Rise Church is a community on Mission to grow in relationship with God, embody love to each other and to help all people know, love and serve Jesus Christ!
#1 Passionate Worship:
We celebrate the awesomeness of God with great music! And we look for God’s love in our lives as the evidence that we have been truly worshipping Him. We believe in turning up the volume of love for God that will demonstrate itself in acts of love for others.
#2 In-depth Bible Teaching:
We believe the Bible is inspired by God and that accurate explanation and application of Biblical truth is not only insightful and inspirational, but life-changing! The culture of our teaching is the explanation of scripture, application of Scripture with an invitation to receive Christ. Our goal is that people feel freed, empowered, and compelled by the Gospel to follow Jesus in every area of life.
#3 Unleashing Compassion:
We believe the church Jesus is building is the counter-culture to a culture breaking down and therefore we believe the mission of the church is to meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs in our generation! It is our mission to both show and tell the Gospel to our city, our neighbors, our coworkers and our friends.
The name “RiseChurch” is inspired by God’s incredible plan and relentless love to bring wholeness, healing and regeneration to a generation in a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ!
RISE speaks of the resurrection of Jesus!
“ ... that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to RISE from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.” (Acts 26:23)
RISE speaks of healing!
Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, RISE up and walk.” (Acts 3:6)
RISE speaks that one day the whole earth will RISE in the worship of the King from Jerusalem as His light will cover the earth.
“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. 2 For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. 3 The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.” Isaiah 60:1-3
RISE speaks of building!
As the community in Jerusalem cried in one of the great turning points in history, “Let us RISE up and build.” (Nehemiah 2:18)
That’s what we’re doing in the name of Jesus at Rise Church San Marcos!
We invite you to join us every Sunday at 9:00am as we grow and move toward a new community! Tell a friend - Invite a friend! Join us in the journey! Hope to see you Sunday ...
What We Believe
Core Beliefs and Values
The name “RiseChurch” is inspired by God’s incredible plan and relentless love to bring wholeness, healing and regeneration to a generation in a right relationship with God through Jesus Christ!
We Are Christ-Centered.
We exist to know Jesus and make Him known! (John 14:6, Philippians 3:8; 10; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 2 Peter 3:18; Acts 26:18; Matthew 9:35-38)
We Stand On Biblical Authority.
God has spoken to us through the Bible and we recognize it as the final authority for our lives. We are committed to the explanation of Scripture, the application of Scripture and giving invitation to Christ! (2 Tim 3:16-17; John 17:17; Romans 10:17; Hebrews 4:12-13; Ephesians 4:12-16; John 8:31-32)
We believe “Context” matters.
Not only of a particular passage of Scripture that provides the basis for accurate understanding, but “The Context” that Gospel was first understood and proclaimed in Jerusalem. That the Gospel is “first to the Jew, then to the Gentile”. (Romans 1:16-17)
We Draw From The Source of Resurrection Power.
There is no “individual growth,” nor ultimately “church growth,” without being in-dwelt and receptive to God’s Spirit! (Eph. 5:18; Acts 1:8; John 16:17; I Cor 12:7; Zec 4:6; Romans 8:11)
We Are Committed To The Church.
Jesus is the hope of the world and while He is not on earth in bodily form, He does have a body that He works through, it is the church which begins at the local level in a local church the heartbeat of God. The church family will accomplish infinitely more together than apart. (Matt. 16:18 ; Matt 5:13-16; I Cor 12:12; 21; Eph 4:16; Acts 1:8; 2 Cor. 5:18-21)
We Are A Community.
Accountability, belonging, care, and spiritual growth happen best with relationally-connected believers. The church is like coals in a hot barbecue pit. If a coal is isolated, it grows cold, but when together with other coals, it burns hotter! (Acts 2:42-26; Hebrews 10:25; John 13:34-35; I Thess 5:11; Phil 2:4)
We Are Vibrant In Faith.
We are intentional in our thinking with an accurate view of the “bigness of God” and will not insult Him with small thinking and parked lives. (2 Timothy 1:7; Hebrews 11:6; Matt 8:8; Matt 17:20; Matt 14:31; I Cor 16:13)
We Are Contributors Not Consumers.
It is an honor to sacrifice for Christ and His church. We give up things we love for things we love even more. Every Christian is essential to the success of the ministry in impacting this generation. (1 Cor. 12:12; Luke 9:23; Phil 2:29-30; Eph. 4:16)
We Are Genuine In Worship.
Genuine worship is a response to the grace and greatness of God. We choose to give our heart and voice while joining with others in expressing love, thankfulness and faith in God. (Eph 5:19-20; Mark 14:26; Hebrews 13:15; John 4:23-24; Psalm 59:16)
We Love Each Other.
The church is the most diverse family on planet earth. There will be differences among Christians. However, we will not tear each other apart! We commit to “unity in our diversity.” We will be responsible “local Christians” and “global Christians.” In the essentials, unity. In the non-essentials, liberty. In all things, love! (Jn 13:35; 1Cor 1:10-13; Rom 16:17; 1 Jn 4:7-8; I Peter 4:8; I Thess. 3:12)
A Statement of Faith is a written declaration of the church’s position on matters that pertain to the essentials of historical Christianity. The following statements comprise Rise Church San Marcos’ Statement of Faith:
The Inspiration of the Bible
We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God. Therefore, our ministry emphasizes the exposition of God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation, line upon line, precept upon precept.
The Innerancy of the Bible
We believe the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments to be the full record of God’s self-disclosure to mankind. Different men, while writing according to their own styles and personalities, were supernaturally moved along by the Holy Spirit to record God’s very words, inerrant in the original writings. Therefore, those applying themselves to study its literal, historical-grammatical context can accurately understand God’s Word. Scripture is fully trustworthy as our final and sufficient authority for all of life (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).
The Triune God
We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in the one living and true God, eternally (John 17:3) existing in perfect unity as three equally and fully divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19–20). Each member of the Godhead, while executing distinct but complementary roles in redemptive history, has precisely the same nature, attributes, and being, and is equally worthy of the same glory and honor and obedience (John 1:1–4; Acts 5:3–4).
God the Father
We believe God the Father created all things in six literal days for His glory according to His own will (Revelation 4:11), through His Son, Jesus Christ. He upholds all things by the Word of His power and grace, exercising sovereign headship over all creation, providence, and redemption (Colossians 1:17, Hebrews 1:3).
God the Son
We believe that Jesus Christ, the eternal Son, moved by love in accordance with the will of the Father, took on human flesh (John 1:1, 14, 18). Conceived through the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, He was born of the virgin Mary. He, being fully God and fully man (John 14:8–9), lived a sinless life and sacrificially shed His blood and died on the cross in our place accomplishing redemption for all who place their faith in Him. He arose visibly and bodily from the dead three days later and ascended into Heaven, where, at the Father’s right hand, He is now Head of His Body the Church, the only Savior and Mediator between God and man, and will return to earth in power and glory to consummate His redemptive mission (1 Timothy 3:16).
God the Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ during this age. He convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. He draws the unredeemed to repentance and faith, and at salvation imparts new spiritual life to the believer, bringing that person into union with Christ and the Body of Christ. The Holy Spirit sanctifies, seals, fills, guides, instructs, comforts, equips, empowers, permanently indwells at salvation, and bestows spiritual gifts to the believer for Christ-like living and service (John 16:8; 13:15; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 1:22; 4:11–12; Romans 8:9–17; 12:4–8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 12:4–5, 11–13, 19; Galatians 5:25; Hebrews 2:1–4; 2 Corinthians 12:12).
The Deity of Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
The need for Salvation
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential and that repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God.
Salvation
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as the substitutionary atonement in our place, and that salvation is found in none other than Jesus Christ. Before Creation, God chose those who would be saved and granted this unearned grace solely based on His sovereign good pleasure. Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was the sole and complete payment for sins, fully satisfying God’s righteous wrath, for each person that turns from sin in repentance and places their faith in Christ alone by grace alone. At salvation each person is made a new creation by the Holy Spirit, declared righteous before God, and secured as an adopted child of God forever. Genuine faith continues in obedience and love for Jesus Christ with a life eager to glorify God and persevere to the end (Romans 8:37–39; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Corinthians 12:13).
The Ministry of the Spirit
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life; we further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.
The Church
We believe that upon placing one’s faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, the believer is made part of the Body of Christ, the one universal Church, of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The Scriptures command believers to gather locally in order to devote themselves to worship, prayer, teaching of the Word, fellowship, the ordinances of baptism and communion, service to the local body through the development and use of talents and spiritual gifts, and outreach to the world to make disciples (Ephesians 1:22–23; Acts 2:42–46; 1 Corinthians 14:26; Matthew 28:18–20). Wherever God’s people meet regularly in obedience to this command, there is the local expression of the Church under the watchful care of a plurality of elders. A church’s members are to work together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ (Ephesians 4:16).
The Resurrection
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
Things to Come
We believe in and expectantly await the glorious, visible, personal, premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed hope of His return has vital bearing on the personal life, service, and mission of the believer (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18). We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost. The lost will be raised to judgment and experience eternal wrath in Hell. The saved will be raised to eternal joy in the new Heaven and new earth in the manifested presence of God (Acts 1:3, 9; Hebrews 7:25–26).
Christian Practices
We believe it is important to uphold the scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore, we hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of Communion. We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ.
Baptism and Communion
We believe that Christian baptism is a public declaration of the believer’s salvation in Christ, identifying with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection symbolized by immersion in water. The Lord’s Supper is the united commemoration by believers of Christ’s death until He comes and should be preceded by a careful self-examination (Acts 2:41; Romans 6:3–6; 1 Corinthians 11:20–29).
The Free Will of Man
We believe that God created mankind—male and female—in His own image and likeness, free of sin, to glorify Himself and enjoy His fellowship. Tempted by Satan, but in the sovereign plan of God, man freely chose to disobey God, bringing sin, death and condemnation to all mankind. All human beings, therefore, are totally depraved by nature and by choice. Alienated from God without defense or excuse, and subject to God’s righteous wrath, all of mankind is in desperate need of the Savior (Genesis 3:1-6; Romans 3:10-19; Romans 1:18, 32).
The need for Fellowship
We believe it is the aim, duty, and privilege of every believer and local church fellowship to glorify God by responding as active participants in the Great Commission call of Jesus Christ to go and make disciples of all nations. (Matthew 28:19)
