KEY #1: Read the Bible!
Now that you are a Christian, the Bible will come alive to you - because the Author of the Bible has taken residence in your heart.
How will it come alive?
God will speak to you through His Word! As you grow in your understanding of the Bible, you will get to know the Lord better and learn what pleases Him. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
The Bible will tell you everything that you need to know in order to grow in your relationship with the Heavenly Father in Christ. “…as His divine power has given to all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him…” (2 Peter 1:3)
As you respond to His Word, you will grow strong and begin to see positive changes in your life that God has intended for you. Jesus said, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31-32)
The “Bible” which means “book” is actually made up of sixty-six separate books written over a period of 1500 years and penned by forty different authors. The Bible is divided between what is called, Old Testament and New Testament. Both are essential and both explain each other! As a new Christian, a good place to begin reading is the book of John that is located in the New Testament.
